Purpose

July 15, 2018

I’ve recently lost my mojo.

For those who know me, I generally have an upbeat, positive, cheerful personality.

However, recently I’ve been a little down and finding it difficult to keep my spirits up.

After a coaching session (yes, every coach needs their own coach too), I became aware of it starting when I’ve had a small achievement financially.

It sounds ironic but true.

Despite the achievement, I felt empty, purposeless.

Then I came to realize I needed a bigger purpose, a bigger and more tangible goal.

Listening to this song ‘The Rose’ by Bette Midler, this part jumps out at me:

It’s the heart afraid of breaking

That never learns to dance

It’s the dream afraid of waking

That never takes the chance

It’s the one who won’t be taken

Who cannot seem to give

And the soul afraid of dying

That never learns to live.

When we are fearful of making a different choice, when we are hesitant about the uncertain future, we tend to stay put in our comfort zone.

Many people have the goal of being financially independent or to reach $x million to retire.

Here is an invitation to ponder over this question, “What is my bigger purpose when I reach there?

Many people will say that they’re not there yet.

But think about it, what if you reach there only to find that it’s not what you want all along? That you’ve been chasing after a wrong goal all this while.

Research shows that focusing on money/position/success at the expense of personal fulfilment and meaning had led 60% of the research population to suffer from depression, anxiety, stress.

One good way to figure out your end goal – ask yourself what is important to you? What do you want to achieve such that at the end of your life, you can look back and have no regret.

We help people get clear on their goals.

Book a 30min free session (worth $125) to find out how we can help you.
